Review - Spooky Cat Art Studio Finland

Spooky Cat Coloring Pages

Spooky Cat Art  is a self-taught artist from Finland with a love for all things creative and colorful. Their Etsy shop is filled with fun coloring bundles, single pages, as well as stickers and prints.

She believes that the only thing a person truly needs to be good at art of any kind, is the desire to create something; creativity should have no terms and conditions, no minimum requirements. “If your heart calls out for you to make something, then make it and find joy in the process.” I loved all of the pages she provided for us and so did our colorists. Check out these wonderfully colored pages below.

Randi Jameson, who colored the pages above (from the  The Witch’s Home bundle, The Whimsical Cats bundle, and The Bottled Magical Things bundle) said, “what a cool book! My criteria for purchasing a new book is..if I open it randomly do I see the pages colored? This one (in the middle above) the colors in my mind just danced giddily as I looked through. Great line work..you can tell it’s hand drawn and not AI to ‘improve’ ..much like Tatianna Stolova. Hope to see more of this artist!”  She used markers and Prismacolor pencil with gel pens to complete these.

These pages are great for beginners and experts alike.  This progression by Ilona Szajnicka is a perfect example to show the level of intricate detailing and vivid coloring that can be incorporated into these pages. She said, “This was the first picture where I could color such small elements and – where I used soooo many mix media. But I liked it very much! This is a perfect coloring book for mums: you can color a jar in your free time, another time a candle!” Ilona used FC Polychromos, Prismacolor Premier, Derwent Inktense, Derwent Procolour, Caran d’Ache Luminance (only dark indigo for shadow effects), Caran d’Ache Neocolor II, white Posca, silver and gold Signo Uni-ball, and a black brush pen.

These pages were colored by Cher Reneé, with multiple colored pencils,  and a touch of fine tip water pens. Cher described the middle page above as a “great picture for relaxing while coloring. The picture is not too busy, but for me, it’s just right!”

Linda Woltil Allison did the left two above left with a blend of Prismacolor Premier, CastleArts, Koh-I-Noor, Phoenixcolor pencils; LePlumme dual tip brush/fineliners; Staedtler fineliners; Jot white pen.  Like the rest of our reviewers, Linda really enjoyed these pages and said, “This is a fun book! Especially for a cat lady!” Colorist, Kimberly Egberts, used Polychromos and Lightfast for the above right WIP.
